Founder Diary: Why I Built YPA Finance

I'm an immigrant.

I came to the U.S. believing in the American Dream — that if you work hard and play by the rules, you can build the life you want.

The first years were brutal.

Starting From Zero

I didn't speak English well. I didn't understand the rules. I had no relatives, no safety net, no one to explain how things really worked.

Every bank was happy to give me a credit card with a 35% APR. I used it everywhere — because no one told me how fast "welcome" turns into debt.

I didn't grow up with credit scores or APRs. One mistake quickly became many.

The Turning Point

As I learned, I started helping others — friends, women, older relatives in my immigrant community.

That's when I realized the problem wasn't just language.

It was accessibility.

Most financial apps assume users are financially fluent, tech-savvy, comfortable with charts — and almost always English-only.

But millions aren't.

This Isn't Just My Story

53% of immigrants face language barriers when navigating essential systems — including healthcare and finance.

Not because they're incapable, but because the system was never designed to meet them where they are.

They're not stupid. They're just new here.
